(2000-2003).  As Chairman of the Committee, I and other members
were in charge of:
 
Formulation of legal policies and programmes:
 
Formulation of relevant and effective legal education policies
 
Formulation of an effective frame work for contract and other 
agreements to be entered into by Ministries and Parastatals of the 
Federal Government
 
Formulation of policies for effective legal advice and legal aid.
 
Formulation of general policies for the collation, qualification, 
reporting and publishing of Nigerian Law;
 
Policies on public prosecution matter;
 
Extradition and matter of public nuisance
 
Legal matters relating to Nigeria’s bilateral relations including claims
against or by Nigeria;
 
Incorporation of companies limited by guarantees.
 
All Human Rights issues including petitions of right;
 
Over sight function over the Ministry of Justice and all its Parastatals; 
and
 
Liaising with the Chairman, National Human Rights Commission
 
It also served as the clearing Committee on all bills before the House of Representatives.  Bills before  the  House  were  processed  jointly  with  my  Committee and  the  relevant mother Committee that the Bill related to directly.

OPC in Lagos and Oyo State and the Ijaw Youth Council Rivers and Bayelsa
